Cactus site
Cactus loves the sun or places it on window sills heading south, east or west. In summer, you can build on the balcony or terrace. We grow them in plastic pots. Important is a large drain hole on the bottom of the pot. We can pour out excess water from the substrates when it gets bigger.
Watering
This is specific to cactuses because they are not tanned in the winter. That awaits us in the months of April to September. During the summer days, we water the cactus twice a week every evening, at the time of the biggest heat (late July and August) we do not burn at all for 14 days. In the spring we water in the morning.
Cactus capture
The calming stadium of the cactuses lasts from October to the end of March. The cacti are asleep and we place them in a cool place with a temperature of 8-12 ° C, which can be dark but also bright. We do not cry, the cactus does not grow at this time.
After winter, we will bring the cactus back to the parapet in March when a green tip appears on it, pour it with warm water (50 ° C). When the temperature rises to 18 ° C, we water 1 – 2 times a week.
The most common mistakes
The most common mistakes we make when growing cacti are spilling cacti, a dark and cold flat and windows facing north.
And what kind of cacti can we grow up at home?
Try an astrophytum, which is also called a “episcopal hat”, a horseshoe, mammillary or notocactus. Full beginners should choose cacti such as gymnocalycium, lobivia (the name is from Bolivia’s backbone, where it comes from) or rebution.
